Homotoxicology

A modern perspective on health and body detoxification

Homotoxicology is a scientific discipline focused on so-called homotoxins and their impact on human health. It was founded by the German physician Dr. Hans H. Reckeweg. According to Dr. Reckeweg, illness is not merely a “disorder,” but a state in which the organism uses its natural defense reactions (fever, inflammation, diarrhea, etc.) to eliminate toxins and restore balance.

From the perspective of homotoxicology, the manifestations of disease should not be viewed as the primary issue to be eliminated. Symptoms should instead be understood as signals that the body is fighting. Treatment should therefore target the specific causes of the disease rather than its symptoms. Suppressing symptoms may not only fail to provide effective treatment but can even worsen the condition, as removing symptoms may also suppress or limit the body’s defense mechanisms.

What Are Toxins and Why Are They Important?

Toxins are harmful substances that either enter the human body or are produced within it, and they can negatively affect the function of individual cells, organs, or entire systems, contributing to the development of acute and chronic diseases.

Toxins are divided into:

Exogenous Toxins – From the External Environment
These toxins originate from the surrounding environment and enter the body through air, food, or contact with chemical substances.

Examples include:

  • bacteria and viruses
  • pesticides and herbicides
  • chemical preservatives
  • heavy metals
  • industrial pollution
  • environmental poisons and toxic substances

Long-term exposure to polluted environments is associated with a higher risk of serious health problems, such as immune disorders, nervous system dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, lifestyle-related diseases, and chronic inflammation. Unfortunately, in the modern world we are exposed to toxins practically every day, which makes providing the body with adequate support extremely important.

Endogenous Toxins – Produced Within the Body
Endogenous toxins are naturally formed as byproducts of cellular metabolism. Under normal conditions, the body can process and eliminate them efficiently.

These include, for example:

  • lactic acid
  • metabolic waste products
  • lipid peroxidation
  • toxins formed during digestive disorders or stress

However, if detoxification processes do not function optimally, these substances may accumulate and burden the organism, further compromising its defense mechanisms.

Detoxification as a Natural Bodily Process

The human body has a highly sophisticated detoxification system designed to recognize, neutralize, and eliminate toxins. The liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, intestines, and the lymphatic system play key roles in this process. These organs and systems work day and night, using mechanisms such as sweating, salivation, urination, and others to remove as many harmful substances as possible and maintain the body’s functionality and reserves.

When the body is exposed to (or produces) more toxins than it can eliminate over a prolonged period, problems arise. Chronic stress, poor or highly processed diets, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption, and emotional tension are also significant factors that contribute to overloading the body and gradually reducing the effectiveness of its natural detoxification system.

Once the detoxification system becomes overloaded, defense mechanisms begin to weaken and toxins increasingly accumulate in the body. Initially, they collect in the intercellular space and tissues, disrupting nutrient supply and blocking important biochemical processes. Over time, they may penetrate cells and negatively affect larger and larger parts of the organism.

And this is precisely where disease begins…

Homotoxicology as a Path to Health

The goal of homotoxicology is to support the body’s natural detoxification and regenerative processes, strengthen defense mechanisms, and help the organism restore balance.

This approach focuses on long-term health support, prevention, and a holistic view of the individual — addressing not only symptoms, but also their deeper causes.

Homotoxicology is particularly helpful as part of comprehensive care in cases such as:

  • recurrent infections and weakened immunity
  • chronic inflammatory diseases
  • allergies and hypersensitivity
  • skin conditions (eczema, acne, rashes)
  • digestive issues and metabolic disorders
  • fatigue, exhaustion, and long-term stress
  • detoxification support after exposure to medications, chemicals, or unhealthy lifestyle habits

It focuses not merely on suppressing symptoms, but primarily on supporting the body’s internal balance and its ability to self-regulate.

The FrequencyFlow™ system offers this support at an entirely new level. Individually generated wellness protocols provide targeted support for the body, immunity, detoxification processes, and regenerative capacity, while also taking into account the diverse underlying causes of health issues — offering the body an effective tool in addressing disease.

In modern practice, the homotoxicological approach is often combined with other holistic medicine methods and may serve as a suitable complementary strategy for long-term or recurrent health conditions.
